Karen Graber is a California-based licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with 11 years of clinical experience. She is licensed to practice in California as a Marriage and Family Therapist (license number 91262).
She earned her master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy in May 2010 from California State University, Northridge and holds a bachelor’s degree in Special Education and Psychology from New York University.
Her clinical background includes work at several Los Angeles-area clinics. She has worked at Beit T’shuvah, an inpatient and outpatient addiction clinic; The Maple Counseling Center, where she treated adolescents at Beverly Hills High School and Moreno High School as well as their families; and Jewish Family Service.
Combining education, training and hands-on experience, she supports and guides people to find balance and to realize their capacity for growth and change. She tailors therapy to each individual’s circumstances so they can pursue greater joy, fulfillment and self-compassion, and she helps clients develop healthy coping strategies intended for long-term use.
Her approach is client-centered and strengths-based, with an emphasis on identifying and building resources to navigate current struggles. She uses a range of therapeutic modalities to fit each client’s needs and applies psychodynamic techniques to explore recurring strains from the past and interrupt dysfunctional patterns. When appropriate for anxiety, phobia or trauma, she incorporates mindfulness practices and EMDR, and she is in the process of receiving EMDR certification.
Many people wonder if online therapy can really make a difference. For common concerns - like stress, anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, or navigating life changes - online therapy has been shown to be just as effective as traditional in-person sessions.
One major advantage is flexibility. Clients can connect with a therapist in the format that feels most comfortable - video calls, phone sessions, live chat, or in-app messaging - which often makes it easier to fit therapy into a busy schedule.
Each therapist involved is a licensed professional, and if someone feels they need a different fit, they may switch therapists at any time. For many people facing everyday mental health concerns, online therapy offers an accessible and effective option.
