Dr. Jocelyn Jones brings more than 16 years of experience in mental health, behavioral health, and substance use treatment. She holds a Doctorate in Professional Counseling with a concentration in trauma, grief, and loss, alongside two Master of Arts degrees—one in counseling and one with a theology concentration.
She maintains professional licensure as a counselor in Texas and as a chemical dependency counselor, and she has earned certifications in spiritual direction and as a Certified Anger Management Specialist II (CAMS II). Dr. Jones works primarily with adults and the geriatric community.
Her areas of focus include stress and anxiety, depression, trauma and abuse including PTSD, addictions and alcohol/drug concerns, eating and sleeping disorders, anger management, low self-esteem and assertiveness, ADHD and other neurodevelopmental issues, compassion fatigue, career difficulties, grief and bereavement, coping with life changes, and challenges related to isolation and loneliness. She also provides counseling and education related to HIV/AIDS, STD/STI, and medical or physical issues.
Dr. Jones uses an eclectic, multi-modal treatment approach and incorporates techniques such as motivational interviewing, skills for effective communication, decision-making and problem-solving strategies, and both individual and group counseling formats. She aims to create a non-judgmental environment where clients can develop practical coping strategies, strengthen problem-solving abilities, and regain a sense of control while working toward their personal goals.
Many people wonder whether remote therapy can genuinely help. For common concerns such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, or adapting to life changes, online therapy has been shown to be comparable in effectiveness to traditional in-person care.
One of the main benefits is convenience and flexibility - clients can connect in the format that works best for them, whether that is video sessions, phone conversations, live chat, or in-app messaging. This flexibility often makes it easier to fit therapy into a busy schedule.
All sessions are conducted by licensed professionals, and clients have the option to change therapists if they feel a different fit would be more helpful. For many people, the accessibility and adaptability of online therapy make it a practical option for addressing everyday mental health concerns and life transitions.
