Jennifer Eklund received her master’s degree from The Ohio State University after completing her undergraduate studies at West Virginia University. She is a Licensed Independent Social Worker - Clinical Practitioner in South Carolina, which is a clinical social work license that authorizes her to provide psychotherapy and clinical services.
With 9 years of experience as a therapist, Jennifer works with a wide range of concerns including stress, anxiety, relationship issues, family conflicts, grief, ADHD, trauma and abuse, intimacy-related problems, sleep disorders, parenting difficulties, anger management, self-esteem struggles, career challenges, depression, coping with life changes, and compassion fatigue. She has worked in a variety of settings, from family and adolescent services to hospice care.
Jennifer believes a successful outcome in therapy begins with a strong therapeutic rapport. Once that foundation is established, she draws from several evidence-based approaches tailored to the client’s needs - including cognitive behavioral therapy, solution-focused therapy, client-centered therapy, narrative therapy, mindfulness-based therapy, and broader psychotherapy techniques - and she can integrate these methods as appropriate.
She is known for being honest and direct while also listening carefully and responding with care, sensitivity, and energy. Jennifer offers sessions by video when possible to facilitate connection, and she is also available by phone and text for clients who prefer those options. A majority of her availability is in the evenings and on weekends, and she checks messages at least once during each weekday.
Jennifer aims to provide a professional yet approachable environment and looks forward to supporting clients through this stage of their lives.
Many people wonder whether online therapy can truly help. For common concerns such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, or adjusting to life changes, online therapy has been shown to be comparable in effectiveness to traditional in-person sessions.
One major benefit is flexibility - clients can meet with a therapist in the format that fits their needs, whether by video call, phone session, live chat, or in-app messaging. This adaptability makes it easier to incorporate therapy into a busy schedule and to maintain continuity of care.
Therapists offering online services are licensed professionals, and clients may choose to switch providers if they prefer a different fit. Overall, online therapy can offer an accessible and effective option for many of the typical concerns people bring to therapy.
