Dr. Janai Harris is a licensed clinical social worker in both California and Illinois and holds a doctorate in clinical psychology. She brings nine years of experience as a therapist and life coach, working with people across the lifespan and with a wide range of concerns.
Her practice includes support for depression, anxiety, stress management, relationship difficulties, trauma and abuse, self-esteem challenges, addictions, eating disorders, parenting and family conflicts, anger management, career difficulties, and work with LGBT clients. Dr. Harris has provided care in diverse settings, including school-based services for children, college and university settings for adolescents, inpatient medical environments, private practice, and correctional facilities.
In addition to her direct clinical work, she supervises a team of mental health professionals delivering care in an enhanced outpatient setting for patients with mental, physical, and developmental impairments.
Her counseling style is warm and interactive, grounded in cognitive behavioral therapy and solution-focused approaches. She pairs those methods with a humanistic, holistic, person-centered, strengths-based, and culturally competent perspective, prioritizing respect, sensitivity, and compassion while tailoring conversations and treatment plans to each person’s specific needs.
Dr. Harris encourages each client’s potential for growth and change and offers support to help people take the steps they want to make in their lives. She looks forward to working with new clients ready to begin that process.
Many people wonder whether online therapy can truly help. For common concerns such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, or transitions in life, research indicates that online therapy can be comparable in effectiveness to traditional in-person sessions.
A major benefit of remote therapy is flexibility - you can meet with a therapist in the format that best fits your life, whether by video calls, phone sessions, live chat, or in-app messaging. That flexibility often makes it easier to keep appointments and integrate therapy into a busy schedule.
Licensed professionals provide online care, and if you decide a different therapist would be a better match, you typically have the option to switch. For many people seeking help with everyday mental health concerns, online therapy offers an accessible and effective path to support.
