Heather Kangur recognizes the courage it takes to reach out for support and to choose a path toward a more fulfilling life. She frames each client’s step toward change with empathy and practical experience.
She began her career in the summer of 1996 working with adults and children who had intellectual and physical disabilities, a foundation that shaped her long-term commitment to supporting people through a wide range of life challenges.
With 18 years of clinical experience, Heather has provided individual therapy, led group work, and carried out behavioral case management and facilitation. Over the course of her work she has supported people coping with depression, anxiety, trauma and abuse, discrimination, parenting challenges, relationship difficulties, domestic violence, grief and loss, family dynamics, career and financial stress, autism, traumatic brain injury, and issues related to self-esteem and ADHD.
She works with individuals of various ages, creeds, races, and cultures, believing that the therapeutic relationship is central to meaningful progress. Heather offers sessions by video and phone, and she also communicates by text and checks messages daily to stay connected between meetings. Her availability includes evenings and weekends to accommodate different schedules.
Heather is a licensed clinical social worker in New York and brings a steady, compassionate approach to helping clients navigate change. She looks forward to the opportunity to work together when you are ready.
Many people wonder whether online therapy can truly help. For many common concerns - including stress, anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, and navigating life changes - online therapy has been shown to be comparable in effectiveness to traditional in-person sessions.
One of the clearest advantages is flexibility. Individuals can choose the format that suits them best, whether that is a video call, a phone session, live chat, or in-app messaging, which can make it easier to fit therapy into a busy routine.
This adaptability helps people maintain consistency in care while attending to their daily responsibilities. Licensed professionals provide these services, and if someone feels a different therapeutic fit would be better, they can switch therapists at any time.
