Heather Childs draws on more than 13 years of clinical experience and a long history in health care to support people facing stress, anxiety, relationship challenges, trauma, depression, addictions, self-esteem concerns, grief, parenting and family conflicts, career difficulties, and other life changes.
She understands the courage it takes to begin therapy because she has experienced its benefits personally. Heather aims to create a comfortable, supportive atmosphere and works in a consistently empathic, non-judgmental way to help clients feel heard and understood.
Before becoming a psychotherapist she worked in health care for most of her life - first as a registered nurse and later as a nurse practitioner. Seeing many patients struggle with mood and stress-related issues led her to pursue formal training in psychotherapy, and she has since helped people coping with anxiety, depression, PTSD, and histories of sexual abuse or assault.
Heather uses several evidence-informed approaches, including cognitive behavioral therapy, rapid resolution therapy, solution-focused therapy, and person-centered therapy. She is also trained and certified as a life coach, a credential she applies to work on career goals, health and weight-loss efforts, and other personal changes when clients want practical strategies to move forward.
Heather is licensed to practice in Florida as a mental health counselor (FL LMHC MH10730) and combines clinical skills with coaching tools to support clients who want to reduce symptoms, improve relationships, or make meaningful life changes.
Many people wonder whether online therapy can truly help. For common concerns such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, or managing life transitions, online therapy has been shown to be comparable in effectiveness to traditional in-person care.
One key benefit is flexibility - clients can connect in the format that works best for them, whether that is video calls, phone sessions, live chat, or in-app messaging. This adaptability makes it easier to fit therapy into busy schedules and to maintain continuity of care when life circumstances change.
Licensed professionals provide online care, and if someone feels the need for a different therapeutic fit they can switch therapists at any time. Online therapy offers an accessible route to evidence-informed support for many everyday mental health and life concerns.
