Evan Matheney has built a career helping children, adolescents, and families navigate challenges with compassion, connection, and evidence-based care. He began his work as part of a home-based therapy team, where he specialized in Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) and supported caregivers in strengthening bonds and developing practical parenting strategies.
He later joined an early childhood mental health team and trained in Child-Parent Psychotherapy (CPP), a trauma-focused approach that supports healing for children and their caregivers. Over time his clinical repertoire has grown to include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Focused CBT, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Existential Therapy, Exposure and Response Prevention, and Family Systems Therapy.
Throughout his seven years of practice, Evan has worked in diverse settings—providing intensive home-based therapy, offering crisis intervention, supervising clinicians, and leading mental health programs. He now owns and operates his own counseling and consulting practice, where he provides therapy, delivers professional trainings, and offers business development support.
Prior roles include serving as Program Manager for Maternal Mental Health within a public health organization, where he oversaw clinical programs to promote high-quality care, compliance, and continuous improvement. Before that, he worked as a Clinical Supervisor for a nonprofit mental health agency, guiding clinicians, facilitating training, and supporting effective service delivery.
Evan holds OH LPCC E.1901200-SUPV (Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor in Ohio with a supervisory credential) and brings seven years of experience to his work. He strives to create a space where people feel safe, heard, and valued, and he believes strongly in the power of relationships and the capacity for growth and change in every individual.
Whether working with children, caregivers, or fellow professionals, his goal is to foster connection, understanding, and meaningful transformation. If someone is looking for support, guidance, or a place to be understood, Evan is available to help.
Many people ask whether online therapy can really help. For common concerns such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, or navigating life transitions, online therapy has been shown to be just as effective as traditional in-person sessions.
One major benefit is flexibility - clients can choose the format that works best for them, including video calls, phone sessions, live chat, or in-app messaging. This flexibility often makes it easier to fit therapeutic support into busy schedules.
Therapy delivered remotely is provided by licensed professionals, and clients have the option to switch therapists at any time if they feel a different fit would be better. For many people, online therapy is a practical and effective way to access consistent support for everyday mental health concerns.
