Elizabeth Black earned a Master’s degree in Counseling from Spring Arbor University in 2015 and brings seven years of experience to her therapy practice in Michigan. She has long been drawn to people, stories, and truth, and values a profession that allows her to engage with each of those elements.
She views therapy as a chance to explore what is true about oneself, relationships, and the wider world. Recognizing that beginning therapy can feel intimidating, she focuses on building an authentic connection that helps make the vulnerability it requires more manageable.
Elizabeth has worked with individuals facing depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, life transitions, grief and loss, family conflicts, relationship difficulties, communication challenges, and boundary setting. She is particularly passionate about supporting young adults as they navigate the many stressors of early adulthood, while also working with a diverse range of clients.
Her personal style is laid back and highly relational, aiming to create a genuine therapeutic relationship where personal discovery and growth are possible. She often challenges unhelpful thought patterns, offers constructive feedback, and recommends practical resources to support progress.
Elizabeth is licensed to practice as a professional counselor in Michigan, holding a Michigan license (6401014904). She regards the decision to pursue therapy as a wise and courageous step and considers it an honor to listen to each person’s story and support them through current struggles. She believes there is no issue too small to address and that no one is meant to go through life alone.
For many common concerns - including stress, anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, and navigating life changes - online therapy has been found to be as effective as traditional in-person sessions. This makes virtual care a valid option for those seeking support for these types of issues.
One of the main benefits of online therapy is flexibility. People can connect with a therapist using the format that fits their needs and schedule best - video calls, phone sessions, live chat, or in-app messaging - which helps make therapy easier to integrate into daily life.
All therapists offering online services are licensed professionals, and clients have the option to switch therapists if they want a different fit. For many, the combination of comparable effectiveness and greater convenience makes online therapy a practical choice for addressing common mental health and life concerns.
