Elena Spanos brings 25 years of experience to her work as a clinical therapist, focused on helping people find practical solutions and greater meaning in daily life. She aims to identify the thoughts and behaviors that may be limiting a person’s potential and to use proven techniques to create comfort, resolve difficult issues, and support lasting change.
Whether someone seeks support through a particularly tough period or is ready for meaningful life changes, Elena partners with clients to set and meet goals. She welcomes people facing a wide range of behavioral and emotional concerns, from depression and relationship work to family conflicts, trauma, attention challenges, and difficulties with sleep, self-esteem, or coping with change.
Elena earned an Associate in Science in Human Services Technology from Hillsborough Community College in 1993, continued with a Bachelor of Social Work at the University of South Florida, and completed a Master of Social Work with a clinical focus at Michigan State University. She became a licensed therapist in 2000 and began practicing in private practice in 2002. Her prior experience includes providing therapy in schools, homes, outpatient settings, and working with couples and Military Families.
She practices as a licensed clinical social worker in Florida (LCSW, license SW5979) and frequently draws on a variety of treatment approaches, including Client Centered Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy, Mindfulness Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, and Trauma Focused Therapy. Elena invites prospective clients to consider working together toward practical, personalized outcomes.
Many people wonder whether virtual therapy truly helps. For a range of common concerns - such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, and adapting to life changes - online therapy has been shown to be just as effective as traditional in-person sessions for most people.
One major benefit is convenience and flexibility. Clients can connect with a therapist through video calls, phone sessions, live chat, or in-app messaging, choosing the format that fits their life and comfort level. This flexibility often makes it easier to maintain consistent care.
Each therapist is a licensed professional, and clients can change therapists if they prefer a different fit. For many, online therapy provides a practical, accessible way to pursue support and work toward personal goals with a trained therapist.
