Dr. Doris Atanmo-Strempek is a Georgia-based clinical counselor with 12 years of professional experience. She holds licensure to practice in Ohio as a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor and serves as a Clinical Professional Counselor Supervisor in Georgia, and she works from a foundation of graduate and doctoral training.
She earned her master’s and doctorate degrees from the University of Akron and maintains active involvement in the field as a clinical researcher, a presenter of psychoeducation, and an educator for graduate students preparing to enter clinical counseling. She is also a member of the American Counseling Association and several of its divisions.
Dr. Atanmo-Strempek counsels across a range of concerns, including trauma and abuse, coping with life changes, family conflicts, intimacy-related issues, parenting struggles, and compassion fatigue. She works with women’s issues and integrates Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Gestalt Therapy, and Solution-Focused Therapy into her practice.
Her clinical style is warm and person-centered, and she uses a holistic approach to help clients identify their existing strengths and build practical coping skills. Her goal is to support clients as they take steps toward healing and greater resilience, working together to develop strategies that fit each individual’s life.
Many people ask whether online therapy can truly help. For common concerns such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, or navigating life changes, online therapy has been shown to be comparable in effectiveness to traditional in-person care for most typical issues.
A key advantage is flexibility - clients can connect in the format that suits them best, whether by video call, phone session, live chat, or in-app messaging. This flexibility makes it easier to fit therapy into busy schedules and to maintain continuity of care when life circumstances change.
Remote sessions also expand access to licensed professionals for people who may have difficulty attending in-person appointments. Clients work with licensed professionals, and if a different therapeutic fit is desired, it is possible to switch therapists.
