For more than 20 years, Donald (Don) Heffington has provided counseling services to people across Oklahoma. He earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Tulsa and a master’s degree from Northeastern State University, and he is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), license OK LPC LPC3103.
His professional work includes counseling clients, supervising new counselors as they pursue licensure, and consulting with other counselors about their clinical practice. Over the years he has used a variety of therapeutic approaches, drawing on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness-based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), and Solution Focused Therapy.
He assists people coping with stress, anxiety, addictions, anger, depression, life transitions, relationship and family concerns, trauma and abuse, grief, intimacy-related issues, sleep difficulties, parenting challenges, self-esteem struggles, bipolar disorder, and compassion fatigue. He offers an experienced, non-religious perspective as an older male therapist.
If difficult emotions, persistent patterns, substance use, or relationship problems are making life feel unmanageable, he welcomes the opportunity to work together. After hearing what a person wants to change, what they value, and the strengths they bring, he collaborates to identify the most effective plan to help them move toward the life they want.
