Davis Rice is a licensed therapist based in Southern Maryland with 12 years of professional experience in counseling. He began his career serving clients at a nonprofit agency and now maintains a private practice, working with both children and adults.
He holds two master’s degrees - an MA in English from the College of William and Mary and an MS in Counseling from Johns Hopkins University - and brings a blend of Rogerian client-centered and cognitive behavioral therapy approaches to his work. Davis combines empathetic listening with practical strategies, and his empathetic nature, listening skills, and practical suggestions have contributed to positive outcomes throughout his counseling career.
Before becoming a counselor, Davis taught English and Latin in the public high school system for over thirty years. He is also a parent of two grown, married children. Outside of work he enjoys reading, photography, and music, and he spends time with his one year old golden retriever, Henry.
Davis is trained as a medical professional and is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor, bringing both clinical training and decades of educational experience to support clients navigating stress, anxiety, relationship issues, self-esteem concerns, depression, life transitions, family conflict, grief, intimacy and parenting challenges, anger management, career difficulties, and ADHD.
Many people wonder whether meeting with a therapist online really helps. For common concerns such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, or adjusting to life changes, online therapy has been shown to be just as effective as traditional in-person sessions.
One major advantage is convenience and flexibility. Clients can choose the format that suits them best - video calls, phone sessions, live chat, or in-app messaging - which makes it easier to fit counseling into a busy schedule.
Licensed professionals deliver care through these remote formats, and clients are free to switch therapists if they decide a different fit would work better. Online therapy can be a practical option for those seeking consistent support for everyday mental health and relationship concerns.
