Christopher (Chris) Chur is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (HI LMHC MHC-826) practicing in Hawaii. He holds a Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology from Chaminade University and a Master of Divinity in Pastoral Care and Counseling from Talbot School of Christian Theology.
He has worked with individuals facing depression, stress and anxiety, relationship and family conflicts, loneliness and breakups, motivation and confidence struggles, self-esteem concerns, spirituality questions, addictive behaviors, grief, and issues around taking responsibility. He reserves the right to decline to work with certain issues.
Chris often works with clients on a short-term basis and aims to maintain an open, nonjudgmental setting where thoughts and feelings can be voiced freely. He supports a holistic approach to health as a pathway to healing and thriving.
His therapeutic background includes familiarity with cognitive-behavioral methods, humanistic person-centered work, psychodynamic perspectives, attachment theory, psychoeducation, existential and reality choice approaches, motivational interviewing, Christian Biblical approaches, spiritual formation, marriage and family therapy, and integrative/eclectic techniques.
He emphasizes unconditional positive regard, empathy, and fostering an internal locus of control to help clients develop a happier, healthier, and more confident sense of self. He welcomes messages from those with questions or who wish to schedule a day and time for a live session.
