Carolyn Presnall brings 42 years of experience in mental health care, working with older adults, adults, adolescents, children and their families across private practice, residential, hospital and educational settings. She holds licenses in Texas as a Clinical Social Worker, a Professional Counselor and a Marriage and Family Therapist.
Her specialized training includes trauma treatment, cognitive behavioral therapy, PTSD treatment, play therapy, solution-focused therapy and client-centered therapy, among other approaches. She believes every individual deserves help, treatment and the opportunity for hope. She has been told numerous times that she has a wonderful sense of humor, and she combines laughter with compassion, empathy, kindness and understanding to support therapeutic progress.
Carolyn has served in several administrative roles in mental health, including directing a residential treatment program for severely emotionally disturbed children and later acting as Director of Psychiatry for a major children’s medical center. She has also worked with adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, assisting them in navigating systems and building community relationships. In private practice she has helped adults with relationship and stress concerns, parenting challenges and difficulties managing children and adolescents. She spent five years working with older adults recently diagnosed with early-onset dementia or Alzheimer’s who were also coping with anxiety disorders and depression. In light of the recent difficulties faced by adults, children and families during the pandemic, she is available to help with anxiety, depression and school-related problems for children and adolescents, and she draws on years of experience teaching parenting classes. Carolyn welcomes outreach and looks forward to working with each person who seeks her support.
Many people ask whether online therapy can truly help. For common concerns such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationship challenges or navigating life changes, online therapy has been shown to be just as effective as traditional in-person sessions.
One of the main benefits is convenience and flexibility. Clients can connect with therapists in the format that suits them best - video calls, phone sessions, live chat or in-app messaging - making it easier to fit care into a busy schedule.
All therapists are licensed professionals, and you have the option to switch therapists at any time if you need a different fit. Online therapy can be a practical, accessible way to address everyday mental health concerns while working with qualified clinicians.
