Carlos Beivides is a results-focused clinician who does not aim to provide endless validation or indefinite therapy. He prefers to work with people who are ready to match his effort and take on substantial challenges to build a more purposeful life.
He is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in New York (NY LCSW 098342) with a Master’s degree in Clinical Social Work from Fordham University in New York City, earned in 2015. He brings 10 years of clinical experience to his practice in New York.
Carlos provides both individual and group counseling for people and family members facing post-traumatic stress disorder and related psychological difficulties, family issues, substance abuse, employment challenges, military sexual trauma, grief, and other problems that can affect a person’s ability to re-enter civilian society successfully.
As a Marine and Combat Veteran, he is committed to serving Veterans and approaches his work with passion. He views psychotherapy as a meaningful means to address cognitive distortions and improve functioning—a “pill to heal the soul” in his words. He uses evidence-based methods including cognitive processing therapy, prolonged exposure, reconsolidation of traumatic memories therapy, and dialectical behavior therapy.
His practice emphasizes an open, nonjudgmental environment where thoughts and feelings can be shared. He recognizes that seeking change takes courage and offers support for clients who are prepared to engage in the work required to pursue a more fulfilling life. If he appears to be a good fit, he looks forward to collaborating with clients on that path.
