Amani Odom was born and raised in Los Angeles, surrounded by sunshine, palm trees, and a family of Black social service advocates. That upbringing nurtured a deep commitment to community and a compassionate desire to support others.
She holds a Master of Social Work and completed undergraduate studies at the University of California, Berkeley. Amani has worked as a Children’s Social Worker with the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services, and she is listed as a Registered Associate Clinical Social Worker (#84067). She is also licensed in California as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (CA LCSW 114538). Amani brings three years of clinical experience and provides services throughout Los Angeles County, offering both virtual and in-person sessions for adolescents and adults.
Her professional experience has included witnessing family stories shaped by trauma, racism, and social and environmental injustices that undermine family structures. Those experiences influenced her commitment to supporting healing for individuals affected by historical and current circumstances that limit access to opportunity and impede wellbeing.
Amani works collaboratively with people navigating life transitions, grief and loss, depression, anxiety, trauma, and challenges that reduce hope and joy. She partners with clients to explore and face obstacles that block movement into the next chapter of life, using evidence-based practices and interventions tailored to each person’s needs. Amani offers a containing and regulating space and supportive interventions while clients determine the next steps and the path they will travel. She acknowledges the courage it takes to begin this work and welcomes the opportunity to support the journey.
Many people wonder whether therapy delivered online can make a meaningful difference. For common concerns such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, or navigating life changes, online therapy has been shown to be comparable in effectiveness to traditional in-person sessions.
One major benefit is flexibility. Individuals can choose the mode of connection that works best for them - video calls, phone sessions, live chat, or in-app messaging - which makes it easier to integrate therapy into daily life.
Therapists offering online services are licensed professionals, and clients may switch therapists at any time if they want a different fit.
